T.O.Y Time is a grassroots initiative that was developed by Mariah Morris and the 2019 & 2020 Burroughs Wellcome Teacher of the Year cohorts in response to the COVID-19 school closures. T.O.Y Time seeks to support teachers and students across North Carolina during remote learning through a three-pronged approach that highlights teacher leadership and expertise. Teacher-Student Relationship
We believe that the teacher-student relationship is at the core of student learning. We believe this relationship is essential to our education system and cannot be replicated by online programs. T.O.Y Time seeks to provide students with a social-emotional connection to teachers across North Carolina when they cannot physically be in the classroom.

High Quality Resources
T.O.Y Time is quite literally Teaching on YOUR Time. Teachers and students can access these FREE T.O.Y Time videos any time of day or night. Teachers are able to add these videos to their online learning platforms to supplement their instruction, and students are able to access these videos for extra support during their learning.

Professional Development
Teacher leaders across North Carolina showcase their pedagogical craft and expertise in the T.O.Y Time series. These videos serve as exemplars for teachers across North Carolina to learn from as they build their online learning modules. These videos highlight new ideas for how to engage students during remote learning and serve as excellent resources for professional development.
